Sharp's at Waterford Farm will be hosting several
Open House dates during our upcoming Spring season!!
No group minimums needed and great for homeschoolers! Adults are free!
We do our best to make all of our educational programs available for everyone. If you are interested in joining in one of our weekday programs, we periodically host "Open House" days. These are special dates set up to accommodate anyone interested in visiting the farm, but who is not part of an organized group. Registration is required. Give a call or email us.
SPRING 2012 OPEN HOUSE DATES
PONDS, PUDDLES, & CREEK PROGRAM $7.00/CHILD
THURSDAY, APRIL 26TH FROM 12 - 1:30 P.M.
FRIDAY, MAY 18TH FROM 12 - 1:30 P.M.
FRIDAY, JUNE 8TH FROM 10 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.

Ponds, puddles, & creeks
- Everyone takes the hayride down to the Cattail Creek where we spend some
time learning about the life and habitat that exists in and around the
creek. We ask that everyone wears old tennis shoes or water shoes as we go
in the water to catch a variety of critters found in the creek. (We provide
the nets.) After placing them in observation buckets we discuss what we have
found! The program also includes learning about & visiting our farm animals.
Cost: $7.00/child; registRATION IS REQUIRED 1 DAY PRIOR TO OPEN HOUSE.
This year we also are offering a Healthy Eats option. For an additional $2.00/person everyone will receive a bag of healthy vegetables to take home with them. They are picked fresh from our high tunnel the morning of your program. All participants will receive a 20% discount on any greenhouse purchases made this day!
WONDERFUL WORLD OF WORMS PROGRAM $7.00/CHILD
WONDERFUL WORLD OF WORMS - IN THIS PROGRAM THE CHILDREN WILL LEARN ABOUT EARTHWORMS & THEIR ROLE IN THE COMPOSTING PROCESS. CHILDREN WILL SEE THE ENTIRE CYCLE, FROM "YUCKY" FOOD SCRAPS TO COMPOST. A GREAT INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATING THIS GENERATION TO COMPOSTING AND HOW WASTE CAN BE ELIMINATED. BRING ALONG A SMALL BAG OF OLD FOOD SCRAPS; (COFFEE GROUNDS, EGG SHELLS, CARROT OR POTATO PEELS, APPLE CORES, BANNANA SKINS, ETC.) CHILDREN WILL LEARN HOW EASY IT IS TO MAKE A COMPOST PILE!

We encourage you to bring
a bag lunch & blanket and picnic by our Pond. After lunch you may visit our
farm museum and also take a self guided walk along our mile nature trail
for no additional charge.
If these dates are not convenient for you, call us and we can inform of other options to join in with a small group that is already scheduled.
